Adding patterns to the top of a latte or other espresso-based drink is called latte art. It might seem hard at first, but if you keep at it, you can get great results. To help you get started, here’s a simple list:

Things you need and tools:

Coffee or espresso machine: You’ll need a machine that can make a strong espresso shot.

Just made espresso: Make sure the shot is strong and full of flavor.

Steamed milk: Making the right consistency requires steaming milk the right way.

Latte art pitcher: This is a bowl designed to warm milk. It has a small spout that helps you control the flow of milk.

Strong coffee beans: For a great espresso, you need strong beans.

Latte art stylus or toothpick: You can use a stick or latte art tool to make small changes to your art.

Steps:

Get your coffee ready:

Grind your coffee beans until they are very small.

To get a shot of espresso, use an espresso machine. The golden-brown layer on top of the espresso should be good and it should be strong.

Steam your milk:

For the latte art, pour cold milk into the bowl. This will steam your milk.

Put the steam wand just below the milk’s surface and turn on the steam.

The milk should be steamed until it hits the right temperature, which is between 65°F and 70°C. It should feel like silk and have tiny, fine bubbles in it.

Pouring the milk:

Use one hand to hold the latte art pitcher and the other to hold the espresso cup while you pour the milk.

Holding the pitcher high to make a thin stream, slowly pour the warmed milk into the espresso.

Bring the pitcher down and keep filling until the cup is almost full.

Making the design:
Use your wrist to control the flow of milk as you pour.

For an easy heart design, pour the milk into the cup’s middle and then draw a line through the middle to make a heart shape.

Experiment and practice:

Try new things and keep trying. Don’t give up if your first tries don’t turn out perfectly. You have to practice latte art.

Try out different ways to pour, the consistency of the milk and the designs.

Improve with a stylus or toothpick:
You can improve the details with a latte art stylus or a toothpick after you’ve poured the main image.

Remember that the most important things for making beautiful latte art are to steam the milk the same way every time and pour it at a steady pace. Practice often, watch lessons, and have fun trying out different patterns!
